About me

Hello, my name is Jeremy Lo, and I am a third-year BA filmmaking student at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). I am passionate about the art of visual storytelling, especially the camera department. My goal is to work as a camera operator, where I can help to shape the visual language of film by interpreting emotion, character, and narrative through camera movement, framing, and lens decision.

During my studies, I worked on five different film projects, each of which provided hands-on experience and helped me build a firm foundation in cinematography. These projects have given me the opportunity to experiment with different camera systems, look into visual composition, and learn the technical aspects of working with a crew on set. I've grown to understand how the camera serves as a storytelling tool, generating meaning and emotion with each shot.

Being behind the camera has allowed me to see how is visual decisions may influence the viewer's feelings. Whether I'm shooting tracking or static and close ups, I'm always thinking about what is the best way to tell the story visually. My experiences have taught me the value of teamwork, precision, and planning, particularly in high-pressure production settings.

As I continue my filmmaking career, I'm excited to take on more camera department jobs, gain more experience with professional equipment, and improve my skills in composition and visual storytelling. My long-term objective is to work as a camera operator in narrative cinema or television, contributing to projects that touch and inspire people.
